Mission and Goals

THREE GOALS

To stress the critical importance of education.

Monday through Thursday during the school year, from 2:30-6:00 pm, the DGT & EP office is busy with volunteers serving the youth in our Tutoring & Enrichment Program. Students receive help with homework, schoolwork, mandatory extra reading and math, managing time and studies effectively, and developing individual accountability for their education and growth.

To emphasize the importance of nutrition and exercise

Childhood obesity has reached near epidemic levels and is a problem that needs to be addressed with a serious commitment. We have several doctors, nutritionists, and volunteers discuss the significance of healthy eating habits, caloric intake, and exercise with our students. These changes can be implemented year round in our fully equipped kitchen, in our indoor exercise area, and on the tennis courts.

To teach the basics of tennis to the children..

Practice sessions include drills, games, and fitness. In addition, our kids frequently compete against Norwalk Grassroots Tennis, Silver Spring Country Club, and Ridgefield Tennis Club, as well as participating in local junior league competition. We use the tennis courts at Rogers Park in the spring and summer where our participants play five days a week for at least two and up to four hours a day.
